Overview Of Other
Non-Surgical Peyronie's Treatments

Surgical equipments

There are number of other non-surgical Peyronie's treatments available. Unfortunately, most of them have not turned out to be very effective for treating men with Peyronie's disease.

However, as long as there is no one universally agreed Peyronie's treatment available, men with Peyronie's disease and their doctors will continue to explore and seek non-surgical treatment options.

These are some of the non-surgical treatments that have been tried and tested so far (click on the links for full details):

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy

High pressure, low frequency sound waves are applied to the Peyronie's plaque, the aim is to break down the scar tissue and calcification in the area by causing trauma and as such stimulate the healing process.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT) is safe procedure with low complication rate but unfortunately as treatment for Peyronie's disease ESWT has not been proved to be very effective option.

Iontophoresis

Iontophoresis is a technique that uses small electric charge to deliver medication through the skin. Iontophoresis Peyronie's Treatment usually includes delivering topical Verapamil and / or Dexamethasone to the penis plaque.

Some patients have reported positive results but the benefits have shown to be inconsistent and studies have furthermore shown insufficient evidence for this treatment option.

Topical Verapamil

Verapamil injections have shown promising success rate for treating Peyronie's disease. Another way to apply Verapamil is topically, though this has not shown to be as effective as using injections.

Topical Verapamil is applied directly to the surface of the body part that is being treated, which is the penis in the case of Peyronie's disease. Applying topical Verapamil with Iontophoresis is another option.

Bear in mind that the best Peyronie's treatment plan for you is most likely a combination of more than one form of Peyronie's treatment.

For example, Dr. Levine, one of the most famous Peyronie's specialists today recommends Combined Nonsurgical Treatments to his patients, i.e. combining oral medication, injections, and the use of penis traction device.
