Depressed man because has Peyronie's disease

I think I got Peyronie's since oct14. I am still in shock, my sexual life has changed and I am pretty much focused on finding a solution, which, so far, I don' think to have found so far. My doctor recommended L-Carnitine for 3 months. Others say Propolis is a good alternative. To be honest, I have felt terrible about my future with this disease.

If someone can share his experience recovering from Peyronie's, will be of great help.... Mike

Dear Mike

I'm sorry to hear that you may have Peyronie's disease but it is good that you have already seen a doctor and that you are keen to explore your options. Peyronie's may not be curable but there are treatment options. And the sooner you start your treatment, the more options you have and the better results you can expect to get.

This article gives you an overview of the Most Common Peyronie's Treatments today and links to articles with more information if you are interested in learning more.

Oral treatments like L-Carnitine and Propolis Opens in new window symbol may help but personally I would not rely on an oral treatment only. Better results tend to achieved with combination of non-surgical treatments, e.g. Dr. Levine combined treatment plan. Dr. Paulis has also gotten some impressive results with his combination of treatments.

So do more research and consider talking to your doctor again or seeking second opinion. Unfortunately, not all urologists are familiar with Peyronie's disease so look for someone that is. This article may help when choosing and preparing for a Doctor's Appointment.

Finally, Peyronie's does not only affect the body. It is important not to ignore the Emotional Side of the disease. And if you have a Partner, then it is vital to involve her. There are also other means of Support, like on-line forums, books, etc.

You ask about other men experience of recovering from Peyronie's. I'm assuming you have already read the Stories in this section (and My Story). Then you will see that each story is different. However, those that seek help sooner tend to cope better and see better results.

I hope more men will reach out with their stories and advice on how they dealt with their Peyronie's disease. Please feel free to comment on this article.

I wish you all the best with your treatment and if there is anything I may be able to assist you with, just be in touch.

Kind regards,

Birgir
