My Fighting Peyronie's Story

Hi, I'm Tony and I am 53 years old and I live in Dubai (UAE). I am very happy to share with you my Peyronie's story, fortunately positive one in the battle against this devastating disease.

My Peyronie’s disease started about 3 years ago (Sep 2011) when I was experiencing pain during erection and curving in my pines.

After about 3 months I was convinced that my situation become worse and serious, then I decided to search in the internet. I am lucky that my biomedical sciences background helped me to quickly learn and educate myself about the disease and to find the nearest and best doctor that I should consult.

I contacted Dr Gianni Paulis via e-mail and he was very kind and promptly replied to my e-mail, and I also had the chance to talk to him on the phone to describe my condition to him. Dr Paulis arranged for me to do ultrasound penile dynamic (Dec 2011) and visit him at the Regina Apostolorum Hospital, Albano Lazio (Rome).

Dr Paulis confirmed my diagnosis of Peyronie's disease and told me I have big plaque and small calcifications, and prescribed me a treatment to be followed. Dr Paulis put me immediately on treatment for six months consisting of 2 per month penile injections of verapamil, 1 applications per day of ketoprofen (2.5%) spry, propolberry 1 tablet daily, vitamin E 1 tablets daily. After the treatment I repeated the penile ultrasound in May 2012.

Dr. Paulis told me that the plaque was not increased in volume, and decided to continue my treatment for another 6 months. In Dec 2012 I did the penile ultrasound. Dr. Paulis checked the test and told me the first good news that the plaque was significantly reduced in volume around 60%, and he recommended that I continue the same treatment for another 6 months.

In Sep 2013 I did the penile ultrasound, and Dr. Paulis told me good news that not only the plaque was reduced in volume by 50%, but also the calcifications was completely disappeared! He recommended that I continue the same treatment but without penile injections of verapamil.

In May 2014 I did the penile ultrasound, and Dr. Paulis checked the test and told me the plaque was further reduced in volume by another 40% from the last time. Also the curving was reduced from 45 degree to 25 degree.

I began a fourth cycle of my therapy for another twelve months and I must say that I am very happy that my sexual life is very normal, which I thought at my early days of the disease I will never going to have my normal sexual life back. I am still under treatment and fighting this devastating disease, but I am very sure that one day I will completely recover from it.

I hope that my positive experience will help all the patients with Peyronie’s disease that unfortunately experiencing this terrible disease.

I am very grateful to Dr. Paulis as a great doctor and as a very kind person.

Tony

    Dear Tony

Thank you very much for sharing your story with My Peyronie's readers. I'm sure it will give many men much needed hope. I'm really pleased to hear about your success, great news.

I agree with you about Dr. Paulis. He is a great doctor, but as importantly very kind person and very dedicated to all men with Peyronie's disease (not only his patients). I interviewed him for My Peyronie's few months ago and he kindly offered to answer questions from My Peyronie's readers free of charge. I have also been able to contact him if I have any questions that need professional help with. I'm very grateful to him for his support.

Again, thank you very much for sharing your story. I wish you continuing success with your treatment.

    Best regards,

    Birgir
